Learning Set 2 Speed Sounds
Once children have mastered the Set 1 Speed Sounds and blending with them, they can move on to learning the Set 2 Speed Sounds.
These are the Set 2 Speed Sounds:
ay | ee | igh | ow |(as in blow) | oo (as in zoo)
oo (as in look) | ar | or | air ir | ou (as in out) | oy
At this stage we focus a lot more on reading words and books as well as spelling and handwriting.
Age recommendations:
Kids in England start when they are 5 to 6 year old or when they are in Year 1. This year ends with a statutory phonics screening check in June.
This class is available for children that can read the set 1 sounds at speed.
